Buying gift cards and subscriptions with crypto in Algeria
Most Algerian cards are domestic-scheme cards that do not work on international checkouts, and the Edahabia and CIB cards commonly issued locally are not accepted by foreign subscription services. Paying in crypto for a gift card or prepaid code is the usual workaround.

Why Algerian cards get declined
- Domestic-scheme cards are not enabled on international networks, so foreign checkouts refuse them regardless of balance.
- Currency controls limit how much foreign-currency spending a personal card can carry, and online subscriptions are frequently outside what is permitted.
- Some services block the country at the processor level, so the card never gets as far as your bank.

Which Algerian cards will never work abroad
These are card schemes, not individual banks. A scheme is a stable fact: if your card is on a domestic-only network, no setting, app toggle or phone call makes it work on a foreign checkout.
- Edahabia (Algérie Poste)
- A domestic card scheme. It works on Algerian sites and at local terminals, and is not on the international networks — foreign checkouts cannot accept it whatever the balance.
- CIB (interbank card)
- Also domestic by design. Some banks issue international variants, but the standard CIB card is for the local network.
Paying in crypto from Algeria
- Peer-to-peer crypto trading is the common route. Treat every counterparty as unverified until the trade completes, and prefer escrow on an established exchange over a direct transfer to a stranger.
- Compare the available native routes because network fees vary — on a $20 order, choosing the wrong network can cost more than a tenth of the purchase.

No. Edahabia is a domestic scheme and is not carried on the international networks these checkouts use. No setting changes that — the card was never able to leave the country's payment rails.
