Why was my card declined on Perplexity?

A Perplexity Pro decline is nearly always the issuing bank refusing an international recurring charge, not Perplexity refusing you. The checkout passes the bank's rejection through unchanged, so the message you see is generic and tells you nothing useful about the cause.

The annual plan changes the arithmetic

Perplexity Pro is sold monthly or annually, and that matters more than it looks. A single annual charge clears a bank's rules differently from twelve recurring monthly ones — some cards that fail repeatedly on a monthly subscription will pass a one-off annual payment, because recurring international charges are what many issuers actually block.

It also matters if you buy from us: our fee is a percentage, so it is charged once on a year rather than twelve times on a month. Annual is materially the cheapest way to buy anything from this site.

As with other AI tools, prepaid and virtual card BINs are commonly refused at subscription checkouts regardless of balance.

Try these first — they cost nothing

Genuinely, do this before buying anything from us. If your bank can enable the payment, that is cheaper than any reseller including this one. We would rather lose the sale than take money you did not need to spend.

Ask your bank to enable international online e-commerce, then retry the annual plan rather than the monthly one.
Check your card's monthly foreign-currency allowance — an annual charge may exceed it even when a monthly charge would not.
Confirm the billing address matches your bank's records exactly.
If a mainstream bank card is available to you, try that before a fintech or prepaid product.

Annual, if you are sure you want it. It is cheaper per month from Perplexity and cheaper again through us, because our percentage fee applies once instead of twelve times.

My card works elsewhere but not here. Why?

Recurring international charges are treated differently from one-off purchases by many issuers. A card that buys a plane ticket fine can still be blocked from a monthly foreign subscription.

Do you need my Perplexity password?

No, and you should never give it to anyone. You enter the voucher yourself while signed in.

What if Perplexity changes its checkout?

Then the route may stop working, and we refund in full in the coin you paid. We would rather carry that risk than let you carry it.
