Why was my card declined on Midjourney?

Midjourney plans are billed as recurring international subscriptions, and most declines come from the issuing bank refusing that category of charge rather than from Midjourney. Prepaid and virtual cards are also commonly refused at subscription checkouts regardless of balance.

Plan tiers and what a decline actually blocks

Midjourney sells several tiers at different monthly prices, and the decline behaviour is the same across all of them — it is a card and country question, not a plan question. Downgrading to a cheaper tier does not usually fix a decline, because the block is on the charge type rather than the amount.

Historically Midjourney was used through Discord, which led to a lot of confusion about where billing actually happens. Billing is handled on Midjourney's own account pages; a Discord problem and a payment problem are unrelated.

Because generation credits are tied to an active plan, a failed renewal can interrupt work mid-project — which is why a voucher balance is worth considering if your card is unreliable rather than merely blocked.

Try these first — they cost nothing

Genuinely, do this before buying anything from us. If your bank can enable the payment, that is cheaper than any reseller including this one. We would rather lose the sale than take money you did not need to spend.

Enable international online transactions with your bank, in those exact words.
Try a mainstream bank card rather than a virtual or prepaid one.
Check the billing address matches your bank's records precisely.
Confirm you are subscribing from Midjourney's own account page rather than an unofficial link.

A voucher is a balance, not a plan

How generation allowances behave on upgrade or downgrade is Midjourney's rule, not ours. Check their current terms before buying a specific value if you plan to change tier mid-term.

No. Billing lives on Midjourney's own site. A Discord issue and a payment decline have nothing to do with each other.
