Why was my card declined on Cursor?

Cursor Pro is billed through a standard subscription processor, so a decline is almost always your issuing bank refusing an international recurring charge rather than Cursor rejecting your account. Developers outside North America and Europe hit this constantly, and the on-screen error rarely says why.

Why this hits developers particularly hard

Cursor's buyers are disproportionately freelance and remote developers, often in exactly the markets where cards are least likely to clear an international recurring charge. The tool is a work expense rather than a luxury, which makes the failure more frustrating than most.

Because it is a recurring subscription, it is also exposed to monthly foreign-currency limits. A card that comfortably handles one $20 charge can fail the following month once other international spending has consumed the allowance.

Team and business plans sometimes route through a different billing path than individual Pro, so a failure on one does not always predict the other.

Try these first — they cost nothing

Genuinely, do this before buying anything from us. If your bank can enable the payment, that is cheaper than any reseller including this one. We would rather lose the sale than take money you did not need to spend.
  1. Enable international online payments on the card, and check whether your bank applies a separate monthly foreign-transaction cap.
  2. If you are billed as a freelancer, check whether your account type carries a lower international limit than the bank advertises — this is common and rarely disclosed.
  3. Verify the billing address matches your bank's records exactly.
  4. If your employer or client can pay for the tool directly, that removes the problem entirely and costs nothing.

A voucher lapses rather than failing awkwardly

Paying by prepaid voucher has one genuine advantage over a card you are not sure about: when the balance runs out the subscription simply lapses, instead of repeatedly failing against a card and risking your account state. Buy again before the term ends if you want continuity.

Individual Pro, not team billing

Team plans frequently require an invoice relationship rather than self-serve checkout. Vouchers are intended for the individual Pro plan; ask first if you need seats.

What works when the card cannot be fixed

If none of the free fixes apply, the working route is to stop paying with a card at all: buy a gift code or prepaid voucher with crypto, and redeem it on your own account.

We buy the code by hand after your crypto payment confirms and email it to you, normally in under 30 minutes and always within 12 hours. Our service fee is printed as a line item before you pay, and an undelivered or invalid code is refunded in full in the coin you paid.

Questions

Will Cursor Pro auto-renew on a voucher?

Only while the balance covers it. That is a feature if you would rather not be billed silently, and a drawback if you want uninterrupted access — buy ahead of the renewal date.

Can I expense this?

You get a receipt from us showing list price and our service fee as separate lines, which is more itemised than most resellers provide. Whether your client accepts it is between you and them.

Is there a student or regional discount?

Not from us — we resell at list price plus a fee. If Cursor offers regional pricing you can access directly, that will always be cheaper than buying through us.

What if the voucher is refused at their checkout?

Tell us and we refund in full in the coin you paid, or supply an alternative. We test the route before listing it, but checkout rules change without notice.
